Painting, sports and socializing...

Big weekend at our house! On Friday, I drove to Indianapolis to meet my friend Kelly for lunch. We had a great time catching up and getting all the latest Batesville news. Friday afternoon, Calvin and Quincy had friends come home with them after school and everyone had a great time. On Friday night, I went out with some girl friends here for a couple of glasses of wine. I was able to get all the latest West Lafayette news at that time. Saturday morning, we all had to be up bright and early to drive an hour and get Quincy to his first swim meet of the season by 7 a.m. He did such a great job! He swam both Saturday and Sunday mornings for this meet with a total of 13 events to his name. He won 6 first places in his heats and won the overall 2nd place prize for the most points for an 11-12 year old boy. He was also able to qualify for the divisional meet with his time in the 200 meter I.M. This was such a huge ego boost for him! He really felt good about himself. We rushed back after swimming Saturday morning to make his afternoon basketball game. Again, he showed significant improvement over last season and was able to much more confidently handle the ball. He made a last second buzzer shot which thrilled him and his team despite the fact that they were already winning by 12 points. Josh's mom, her friend, Dick and Jeremy came for the swimming and the basketball. So, after the basketball game, those 3 adults took our 4 kids out to eat while we went out to dinner with our next door neighbors. We had some fantastic Thai food followed by an evening of drinks and Irish music at a local Irish pub. Sunday morning was more swimming for Quincy. Josh took him this time while I stayed home with the other kids. After snuggling on the couch with Max and watching "Eight Below", I started painting the kitchen. After 8 straight hours of painting, I am about 75% finished but just can't do anymore tonight. It looks great though and we love the color with our new countertops!
