Sunday by the Sea
(Hit the play arrow under that picture and watch our little video) Beautiful, beautiful day!!! Today was warm and sunny again so we headed out to Sene (the village where our house is located) and hung out by the sea. It is soooo great! We began at the little sandy beach at the end of our main road, that beach is very small and mostly filled with boats so we then headed down the trail that runs behind our neighborhood, directly along the coast. The kids had a great time climbing on the rocks by the seawall and looking for little critters and sealife under the rocks. We were then thrilled to discover that further down the path (only an actual 10 minute walk from our house) there is an actual sandy beach with a roped off section for swimming. Several kids and their moms were swimming and our kids had a great time digging in the sand, collecting shells from the millions that were on shore, splashing in the water, watching the boats and then watching the tide come in. It was fantastic! We are going to love being on the water! After our sandy, busy day, we headed to the local McDonald's for a touch of the US. The kids thought it was great fun to see all of the different choices on the menu. For example, the kids' meals offer a choice between carrots and fries plus they all come with applesauce or fruit. You can also get many types of salads including one with tuna and one with salmon. We all loved trying out the pommes frites sauce that came with our french fries. This was sort of an herbed mayonaise. Very fun! Hopefully tomorrow I will get my car and my computer (which has been tied up in customs this whole time). This ends our first week in France! I think we have managed quite well and we can all honestly say that we are enjoying ourselves. We still feel like we are on vacation however....
