A Beach and a Castle

There is nothing better than being able to share our new way of life with people from our old lives! It makes us think about the things that we have begun to take for granted in a different light. Today, Quincy and Tabitha had to go to a Confirmation retreat all day and Josh had to go to work but the remaining eight of us headed out for some sightseeing.

We were able to take the Epple family to our favorite ocean beach at St. Gildas du Rhuys and to show the kids the Atlantic Ocean for the very first time. We all had a great time traipsing through the sand, over the rocks and along the water. We ate a picnic lunch on the beach despite the fact that the weather was a chilly mid-50's and the wind was blowing pretty briskly. We enjoyed watching the windsurfers in action and watching the tide roll in at a steady clip. After several hours at the beach, it was time for the Epples to see their first castle.

We drove over to the Chateau de Suscinio . This castle was built between the 13th and 15th centuries and has been beautifully restored. We took an audio tour of the castle and the grounds. Amazing! My brother-in-law did a great job remembering how to drive a stick shift and managing the unfamiliar round-a-bouts as he followed me in his rental car. Not an easy task!

bHi Heidi, Josh and kids,
It is snow/raining right now. I am going through France withdrawal! Enjoy every moment you have left in that beautiful country!
Miss you, Susie, Dave and Meghan
