Our Weekend in Paris

We just came home with my sister and her family so we are tired and I won't type much. We did have a great weekend in Paris though and are thrilled to now be able to show our part of France to Sarah, Cliff and the kids. We started out our weekend in Chartres which is a beautiful little city that we always drive by but have never spent much time in before. After spending Friday night there, we walked around town on Saturday morning, enjoying the beautiful old homes built along the river. We also spent a great deal of time touring the huge cathedral at the top of the hill where kings and queens have been married.

This is the oldest complete Gothic cathedral in the world and was completed in the mid 1200's. After leaving Chartres, we drove to Versailles where we took a tour of the Chateau built by Louis the XIVth in the 1700's. Unbelievably ornate and huge.

Next, we took in a fantastic dressage equestrian show at the old stables of the chateau. Of course, this was Tabitha's favorite. We left Versailles this morning to drive into the city of Paris to watch Quincy swim in his national swim meet.

We were able to watch him swim a 50 meter butterfly in under 40 seconds for his part of a relay team.

His team did not win but he was very proud to have swam at such an important event. He remained with the team and came home on the team bus while we drove further into Paris to see Sacre Coeur and the Molin Rouge. We arrived at Sacre Coeur just in time for Mass so we enjoyed hearing the Passion of Christ in French.

After Mass, we wandered around this famous artist district before heading out of Paris to meet my sister at her train in Nantes before we all headed home. Busy, but fun weekend!
