These kids are growing up overnight... Yesterday, Quincy asked if his girlfriend could come home with him after school and spend the evening at our house. He originally asked if she could stay for dinner but then decided that he would rather take her out for pizza so it would be just the two of them. Sigh.... I remember when that was Josh and I... How did we become the older generation in this mix? Anyway, Samantha is a very nice girl and Tabitha and I enjoyed getting to know her while Quincy was at swim team practice and Samantha was just hanging out in our kitchen. Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately), although she goes to Quincy's school, she lives almost an hour away so until one of the two of them can drive (they both turn 16 in March), it is a bit difficult for them to get together.
I got to have my first 2011 King Cake for this month of January yesterday. My French friend invited me over for coffee and King Cake for the Feast of the Epiphany as they celebrate it in France. Although, we both ate giant pieces of this yummy cake, neither one of us got the "favor" in our piece so neither was declared royalty for the day. We did have a great time comparing our Christmas vacations however.
Last night, Josh and I were supposed to walk down the street for a friend's goetta party. This is an annual event for them where everyone brings something that is made out of or containing goetta. Sigh.... how far we have come from our gourmet dinner parties in France... Neither Josh nor I are fans at all of goetta but we thought that it would be a fun party. However, we realized that we really couldn't go because not only was Quincy here with his girlfriend (primary reason not to leave the house!) but that Max and Taba had also invited friends over for the evening. Are we now at that point where our social lives have to play second fiddle to our kids'?
Quincy had a swim meet this morning in Madison, IN. He placed first in two events and second in another. Great job, Q!
Max had a basketball game this morning and although his team continues to improve, they also continue to lose albeit not by as much!
