Calvin's Birthday Party?!

No, don't worry, you didn't miss Calvin's birthday - his birthday is in June. His teacher just likes to celebrate summer birthdays before the end of the year so those kids are not forgotten so she arranged a big ice cream party for all the kids in her class with summer birthdays. Since I am the room mother, I was in charge of helping. It was an ice cream free-for-all and the kids had a great time! Thursday morning, I was ordered to appear for jury duty. Having never done this before, I was curious about the whole process. Very interesting but I was certainly happy to not be selected for the actual jury since it was a domestic abuse case and I would have had a hard time remaining impartial against the sleazeball defendant. On Thursday night, Tabitha "graduated" from the DARE program at school. They had a whole ceremony to celebrate 170 5th graders making their pledge against drug abuse and violence. She was so proud! On Friday night, Josh came home from work early!!! Surprise, surprise! I figured he must have been fired since he pulled into the driveway at 5:10 when we never see him before 6:30! He claims that all is well, however. So, in honor of this big event, Josh and I went out to eat at a Japanese/Korean place and then saw a play on Purdue's campus. Fantastic show! It was "Living Out" which is a story about nannies and working mothers - very entertaining. Today we plan to do some work on our deck and around the yard, as soon as the threat of rain is passed.
