Jet-Lag

What a long day.... The poor kids felt like they were getting up at 1 a.m. when we woke them at 7 for school. We felt the same way but tried hard to put on a happy face! Everyone says that they felt like they were sleep walking through their day until after lunch when they started to wake up a bit. I spent the entire day unpacking our many, many bags and doing mountains of laundry - sure wish I had a big, fast American washing machine! Poor Josh felt sick all day and finally came home from work an hour early with a fever and nausea. Hope that doesn't spread through the family!!! We're keeping him quarantined to the family room for now. I asked the kids if they felt like they had forgotten all of their French when they went back to school.... Taba didn't answer because she was too busy opening her Christmas gifts from her God-mother.... Quincy said that he actually felt more comfortable listening and speaking today, like the French had settled in his brain a bit while we were away - he feels that this indicates that we should take more vacations.... Calvin said that he actually spoke more French than usual today, just to stay awake.... Max said that he usually only speaks a little bit of French but today felt like he spoke in French all day! Hurray! Hope I feel the same way when I get together with my French friends tomorrow! I almost slipped up this morning when I caught myself about to call across the parking lot to a friend at the school drop-off to say "hello". Really no one does that around here, they approach each other to say "hello" and do the cheek kisses. I stopped my American urges just in time.... We had a gorgeous day today with blue skies and 55 degrees so after school, the little boys and I went walking on the beach to do a little rock climbing and to use Max's new metal detector to find some treasure. The first picture is of a very sleepy Calvin on the way to school this morning.

I know just how you guys feel-
January 11 my church youth group had a lock-in at the church. There was over 50 kids there. I didnt sleep at all. Nothing. I came home Jan. 12 at 8:00 am, and I was so tired I went right to sleep and didnt get up until 3:00 pm. I had dinner, checked my email, took a shower, and went right back to sleep at 8:00 pm. I had to get up early this mornig for church, so I got up at 7:00 am. I slept 17 1/2 hours, and I am still a little tired!
