Today was back to routine.... The kids went to school, Josh went to work (despite the fact that his office was officially close today due to there being a Holiday tomorrow - he felt like he had way too much to do at work to stay home), and I did the laundry, the grocery shopping and the bill paying to get us back on track. It was horribly windy and rainy all day but with temperatures in the high 50's, we can't complain too much.
The kids fell right back into their French normal. They all had a difficult time waking up this morning and staying asleep last night due to jet lag - but they did okay. They are all excited to not have school tomorrow and came home with grand plans and many invites to spend time with friends. They had a great time discussing the U.S. election results with their various classes and teachers and showed off the newspaper front pages that they had collected about Obama.
It was funny to listen to the kids speak more French to each other today than they have in total over the past 2 weeks. Why do they feel the need to speak French amongst themselves just because we are in France but don't feel as much of a need while in the U.S.? It is also very funny to hear them address each other with the French pronunciation of their names! It seems like a name would be a name, no matter what language you are actually speaking!
I had to include this picture that I took in West Lafayette. It was just the perfect autumn picture from our trip.
