Despite the grumbles and complaints about the daily 7:30 a.m. practices, my kids do enjoy swim team and do a very good job. This morning during the weekly Ribbons and Donuts session after the Friday morning practice, I watched with pride as each of my kids were awarded ribbons for their efforts in Monday night's meet. Their team has not lost a meet since 1999 and the skills that they are taught in this summer swim program are something that they will be able to use for many years to come.
Tabitha's friend, Sabine, seems to have gotten over any homesickness that she was feeling. She was all smiles and giggles today and is really learning to use her English skills. She and Tabitha roamed all over town today, doing some shopping, eating lunch at a local restaurant and just being girls. Tonight, we will take her to a drive-in movie. Something that is truly, uniquely American.
