A Long Ride....

Today was sort of a day of recovery from our huge, busy weekend in Paris. We let the kids sleep in a little bit before getting everyone off to school. I then met yet another group of women who had heard about me and were eager to meet me. They invited me to join their weekly bicycle ride through the trails of our area. They were all about my mom's age but they can ride! We rode for 2 straight hours through the absolutely gorgeous sections of my village. I had no idea that some of these places existed! It was almost breathtakingly beautiful at times! We had farm land on one side of us and the sea on the other and only very rarely did we have to emerge on to actual streets. I loved it! All the while, the women spoke to each other and to me in French as they are very eager for me to learn French and want to immerse me in as much as possible. It was quite fun and I hope to join them again soon. After the ride, we had water (something other than wine or coffee, can you believe it?!) at one woman's house before going our separate ways. I headed home for some day to day stuff like laundry and bill paying that I had been neglecting. When the kids came home from school, everyone just wanted to do quiet activities and rest from our late night last night. Before dinner, I was able to successfully bake some chocolate chip cookies! Hurray! Maybe I'm finally figuring out this oven and ingredients!

Love your pictures as well... It makes me feel a little bit of homesick, but I'm so happy you like the place you are living in now ! Profitez-en bien...
Concerning the cookies, I would be very interested to know how you changed your recipe to adapt to the French ingredients !
