I knew things were going a bit too smoothly yesterday when we got Coco on her flight to the U.S. without any trouble and we enjoyed a very nice day at the beautiful gardens and home of Monet in Giverny. On the drive then from Giverny to Calais, I realized that Calvin seemed awfully tired and whiny for a kid who never complains. It dawned on me to reach into the back seat and check his forehead only to discover that he was burning up with fever. We made it to Calais and checked into our horrible little hotel. Calvin told us that he was a little hungry and since no one had eaten dinner, we decided to just hit a little brasserie that was close by. Just as the food was about to be served, Calvin vomited all over the table. Poor kid and poor people sitting next to us! Calvin and I quickly headed back to the hotel while Josh managed to get the mess cleaned up and our other kids fed with the help of the very nice wait staff. Calvin managed a good night's sleep and didn't seem too terrible this morning, so it was on the Eurostar for us. We made the barely 60 minute trip into London without difficulties and quickly found our wonderful little hotel just near the King's Cross station. We then propped Calvin up with some Motrin and set about exploring the city. We took a double decker bus tour and a Thames river tour so that Calvin would need to do as little walking as possible. He held up well during the guided tour of the Tower of London and even managed to eat a little of his fish and chips. We thought he was doing okay so Tabitha, Calvin and I proceeded to go to see "Wicked" which we had all received tickets for from Josh's mom for our birthdays. This was a long anticipated outing and Calvin was so disappointed to discover that he really did not feel well enough to enjoy the show. He dozed through some of it and basically just listened to the rest as his fever just crept higher and higher. We did managed to make it back to our hotel via the tube with only one episode of him vomiting in the corner of the train car before we could get off. Sure hope he is feeling better tomorrow....
I have lots of pictures from today but am just too tired to post them...
