There Are No Michael Jordan's Here, honestly!

Je suis fatigue..... I am tired..... although today was very fun. We finally woke up to a sunny day although the temperature was in the low 40's Fahrenheit first thing this morning! I am not ready for those kind of temperatures. Anyway, after getting the kids off to school (still loving the walking.... I mean, there are now days that I never even get into my car!! How many mother's of 4 can say that???), I met Susie (my new American friend) in front of the neighborhood boulangerie before we headed "across" town on our bikes to hook up with my biking group from last year.

We found the meeting place to be in a beautiful neighborhood of big, big homes and huge yards! I have never seen such a thing in Vannes before so it was quite exciting. Anyway, we joined the other 6 women for a pretty solid 2 hours of biking through trails and along the sea (note the swimmer in the water in my picture and then remember the temperatures I told you about....) before grabbing a quick glass of water and heading home. After telling Susie about how most of these women speak only French to me, they all showed off their English skills today and spoke lots of English to both of us.

I grabbed a shower and some lunch at home before heading out for my first French tennis match. I have been just dying to play but never had a partner or a location in which to play until today. I finally joined my friend, Sabine, at her tennis club and we played a hard and fast afternoon of tennis!! It felt so good to be out on the court and Sabine and I were thrilled to discover how evenly matched we are. Great fun!! I tried repeatedly to convince Sabine that American courts are much longer with much lower nets but she wasn't falling for it. She insisted that I get the ball over the net and that I keep it in bounds. Hmmmmm.... some friend she is, eh? Upon leaving the tennis court, we headed over to the local sports center just to verify the time and date that my boys will start their basketball league. If you will remember, back in June, we discovered that our basketball league from last year didn't want to let us go despite the fact that we moved from Sene to Vannes. We thought that we had resolved all of those issues but apparently not. Apparently, they are within their rights to not allow us to join another league!! Can you imagine??? Anyway, with lots of discussion (thank goodness Sabine was there to translate) and numerous phone calls to Sene. We were told that all of the boys and Josh would be allowed to play in Vannes. However, Josh is not allowed to play competitively! They granted him permission to only play in the "leisure" league and if he would play in the competitive league, there would be problems with Sene!! He's more of a leisure kind of guy, anyway, so it's okay. C'est très bizarre!!!
