Very, very strange around our house tonight.... It's extremely quiet! That can only mean one thing... Max is not home! Max turns 8 on Sunday and for his birthday, he requested that Josh take him camping and for some rock-climbing. Max then decided that he also wanted Calvin to join them so.... Josh took off a bit early from work today, packed up the car and the two boys, and headed down to the Saint Nazaire area. I hope they are having and will have a wonderful adventure! It is very unusual for the two youngest to be gone! The big kids and I felt like we had to do something that only older children can do so... we watched "Batman - the Dark Knight" on DVD and stayed up late!
I rocked the French boat a bit today by introducing the kids in Max's class to cupcakes. It was the talk of the school when I picked the boys up this afternoon. They had never seen such a thing! They loved the fact that each child had their own "cake". Max had to carefully warn everyone not to eat the paper liner. They also all loved the frosting! Nothing is frosted in France so it's really a different concept. Max's teacher asked me for the recipe and I had to admit that I used a tub of Pillsbury icing smuggled in from the U.S.
