I think we might have found it today! Wow! This has not been easy task. I feel like I spend half of my day feeling car sick from driving around roundabouts, suffering through Josh's not perfect mastery of the manual transmission, test driving cars or looking around as we check out towns and neighborhoods. But, today, we met with some success! We found a beautiful longiere.... a historic "long" stone house built many, many years ago but in the process of being completely gutted and updated. It is gorgeous!!! It has 5 bedrooms (most with closets!!!), an "American" kitchen (which just means that the appliances are not microscopic), a breakfast bar, a wine cellar, a laundry room and a large family room!! The yard ("garden") is not huge but big enough for the kids to play and it is only 5 minutes from a private school! Very, very exciting! The construction is almost complete on the house so it should be ready when we are ready to move in. Hopefully, we can sign a lease tomorrow before someone else snatches this up. It is not on the sea, like the other house, but it is only 20 minutes from the sea so we will still certainly be able to enjoy the water. We keep hearing about kids taking surfing and sailing classes in the local schools!! We spent a lot of time looking at cars today as well and have come up with some good choices for both of us. Tonight, we drove out to Josh's new office and met with his boss for dinner. We had a very good time with some local specialities such as buckwheat crepes with salmon and cream, and "bowls" of hard cider. I am including a few pictures of the house as well as some of the walls and garden around the walled city of Vannes. We are hoping to live just north of Vannes in St. Ave.
