Wow! Where do I begin....

We have officially begun our introduction to the French culture today. After a nice breakfast of french bread, yogurt, cheese, lunch meat and wonderfully strong coffee.... our relocation specialist picked us up at the hotel for house hunting. We saw 3 very different houses in 3 very different locations. The first one was our absolute favorite so far as it was within sight of the Gulf of Morbihan!! Absolutely beautiful with a very big yard and six bedrooms for lots of visitors! It also had a wine cellar and new kitchen with all included appliances (the refrigerator was actually bigger than a dorm fridge)! The only problems with it are that it is farther from Josh's work and the kids schools than the other houses and that it does not have any closets!!!Apparently that is quite normal in France!! I am including a few pictures from that house as that is where our inclination points us at this time. We then went into the beautiful "walled" city of Vannes for lunch and to look around. It is gorgeous!!! Narrow, winding streets, a beautiful harbor filled sail boats and a million little shops. We had a great lunch of salad with goat cheese and ham and again, cafe au lait. The third house that we looked at was actually built in the 18th century!! Josh couldn't even attempt to stand up on the ground floor as the ceiling was so low but the rest of the house (3 floors) had super high ceilings! This house was in Auray where we spent quite a bit of time walking and exploring today. The town and location where great but the house would not fit our family well at all as you had to go through bedrooms to get to common rooms and the bathrooms and kitchen were miniscule. The yard was also an old, old, old orchard with very little room to play. Tomorrow, we will see some more houses and begin to make some decisions. Should be fun! We also plan to look at some cars! I may need to learn to drive a stick!

Looks a lot like my old neighborhood in New Orleans.

You really should consider a scooter for a second vehicle. :-)

So cool- I can't believe you are really, truly moving to France. Go with the big house that is farther away. The scooter sounds like a great idea!
