The Perfect Birthday!

I have had such a great day today. I have to admit to feeling pretty spoiled. First thing this morning, Coco and I met Susie for a long urban walk through the city streets. After dropping off Coco, my friend, Valerie, then picked me up for a day in Carnac. The day was so beautiful and warm that we decided for a long walk along the sandy beach to get us started. We did lots of laughing and talking before settling into a long lunch of mussels and french fries on the outside terrace of a seaside restaurant.

For those of you who know me well however, as much as I loved the gorgonzola mussels, it's really all about the dessert.... So, I enjoyed a huge creme brulee ice cream sundae before finishing up our 3 hour meal with coffee.

We next decided to hit the streets of Carnac for some shopping. Carnac is really a tourist town and since it's still February, many of the shops were very quiet or still closed for the season. We had a great time at the shops that were open however and found some lingering sales on some winter sweaters. I got home just in time to usher in the kids from school. Max and Calvin had asked me to allow them to walk themselves home from school today. They then asked for some money... which made the "surprise" they brought home, a bit less surprising. However, I was thrilled to see the beautiful piece of black forest cake that they brought home from the boulangerie for me.

I ate it with relish (despite the fact that I was far from hungry) and now, Josh and I are settling the kids in with a movie and going out to dinner!! If I don't explode before the night is out, I will have enjoyed today immensely...

This picture is of a much younger Heidi in Fort Wayne, IN.

Heidi,Happy Birthday from the Garriott's. You get the award for consuming the most calories in one day and probably not gaining a pound. Oh to be 30 something again, Dave, Susie and Meghan

Yes, your ability to eat desserts and not show it is rather annoying to the rest of us, but Happy Birthday anyway!
