Crazy Days of Fun!

The kids seem to be having just non-stop parties these days as the school year comes to a close. Yesterday, I spent the whole evening setting up for a huge live and silent auction for all of the junior high. This was their opportunity to spend all of the points that they had earned over the year by reading books and taking tests.
This morning, I headed over to the high school where I was one of the parent chaperones who walked along with the student body on their 6 mile walk-a-thon. Another mother and I led the pack through the hilly route and had a great time in the process. We didn't lose any walkers and afterwards, we led the scavenger hunt and chaperoned the battle of the bands while the kids enjoyed a cook-out.

A very fun way to end the school year for Quincy. He is thrilled to lose his freshman status and have one year of high school under his belt!

I went straight from 5 hours at the high school to 3 at the grade school where I was a "cashier" during the live auction. It was barely controlled chaos with 150 over excited, over sugared, and over caffeinated junior high kids. They were good though and had a great time despite the stifling heat in the old gym of the school. Tabitha and Calvin were able to "purchase" the items that they wanted from the auction (Calvin had over 800 points while Tabitha had 1500 - the average for the other kids was about 200 so my kids had serious buying power). Tabitha even made sure to purchase the giant 3.5 pound bag of Skittles for Max so he wouldn't feel left out. Ughhh!!

After school, I ran Calvin over to the Romweber Marketplace here in town where they had a real live Indy 500 car on display. Calvin was able to get in the car and get his picture taken so he was thrilled! He is now even more ready for his grandma to take him to the real race on Sunday.

Josh made it home safely from his trip to Mexico so this evening, he and I relaxed on the deck with a beer and caught up on our week. Tabitha had a babysitting job and Quincy had an end of the year bonfire party at a friend's house... Whew, life is tiring but awfully good....
