Another hot and muggy weekend. This one full of athletic events. On Saturday morning, Max had a soccer game, Tabitha had a soccer scrimmage, Quincy had soccer practice and Leo had tennis practice, all at 9 o'clock. Calvin then had a soccer game at 10:30. Leo learned quickly what our house is like when everyone is trying to get ready and to leave at once. He also learned what it is like to ride around all over town as we drop kids hither and yon. No complaints, just some looks of confusion! The games were miserably hot but all kids played well, especially Max and Calvin.

Max seems to be gaining skills each season and is also learning to be a little aggressive. Calvin played in the first game of his life. He was thrilled, we finally let him play despite the fact that he is supposed to avoid contact sports due to his single kidney. He loved it!! You did not see a more enthusiastic or determined kid out there.

He was also one of the best on the team which was VERY nice to see. He was chosen as one of the team captains and of course, will take that very seriously. Leo is playing tennis for the first time in his life and will play on the high school team. The coach has very nicely taken him under her wing and is patiently teaching him the game. He seems to be enjoying it. He has discovered that several of his classes are too easy for him so we will work on changing his schedule a bit tomorrow.

Last evening, Tabitha had a whole gaggle of girls over for her 14th birthday party. They had a great time full of talking, giggling, painting nails and eating cake. We all tried to just stay out of their way and when Leo accidentally stumbled into the kitchen full of girls, he quickly turned around and made his escape.

This afternoon, we had our new patio furniture delivered. We have wanted and needed something for quite some time to fill the huge spaces on our deck. We finally found something that we like. It looks great and as soon as it is no longer 95 degrees with 95% humidity, we plan to try it out!
