Today I went out for lunch with a group of friends. We were celebrating the birthday of my friend, Gaelle, who moved to the U.S. from France in August. Gaelle said that she never would have believed that she would be celebrating her birthday in America but is thrilled to be doing so. She invited another friend to join us. This friend is also French but after coming here for her husband to fulfill a 2 year contract with Hill-Rom, she and her family decided to stay. They have now been in the States for 7 years and just love it. It was very interesting to talk to Virginnie and to see the struggles that she still faces despite the fact that her English is now excellent. She has just begun the process of preparing her oldest daughter for college and is amazed at all the details that this entails versus a similar situation in France. She is fortunate in that her daughter is being heavily recruited by many, many schools due to the fact that she is the three time State Champion in high jump.
This evening, we are taking Max and Calvin to see "Little Shop of Horrors" being put on by Quincy's high school drama department. Quincy is the sound guy for the crew and has been practicing every evening for weeks. They will do a performance both tonight and tomorrow night.
Tabitha is babysitting for the two children of a friend tonight for the first time. Hope they don't have any "drama" on her end!
