Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day to all the super moms out there! My family spoiled me with an incredibly lazy day and a new yoga mat!! I love it! Thanks guys!
We had a very social weekend. Tabitha went to the beach house of her friend near La Tranche sur Mer and didn't arrive back home until this afternoon. Taba and her friend had a good time swimming and exploring and even caught live shrimp which Audrey's mom later cooked so they could eat them. Max spent the day at a different beach with a friend of his yesterday while Calvin went to the city house of some of his friends. When Josh and I walked over to pick up Calvin, the parents of his friends invited us in for coffee and cake. We happily obliged. This family just moved back to Vannes in September after having lived on the island of La Réunion for the past 5 years. They shared all sorts of information and pictures with us about this beautiful island that is located in the middle of the Indian Ocean, 900 km east of Madagascar. The most fascinating pictures showed lava running across the streets of the heavily populated island because it is home to one of the most active volcanos in the world. Amazing! The things that we never even knew existed! Immediately after leaving our coffee and cake gathering, Josh and I left the kids at home and headed to the home of one of my biking friends. There we enjoyed a fantastic dinner of sea bream cooked in sea salt and ratatouille. We began our meal with glasses of Planter's Punch. Our hosts had just returned from a two week sailing trip through the British Virgin Islands and wanted to share some of those local flavors with us. Fantastic. They were also eager to show us what is meant by the french word, "punch" compared to what they know is often served in the U.S. Henri and Ghislaine kept us entertained all evening with stories from their seven years of life in the U.S. as French ex-patriots. We had a wonderful visit.
Josh and I took a walk down to the port this afternoon and discovered it to be full of people. There seemed to be several festivals going on, the biggest was a garden show and plant sale held in the rampart gardens. Further down the port was a small Country and Western festival full of square dancing and cowboy hats. Very funny to see in France! We have no idea what prompted that one!
