My Best Buddies

Today was the birthday of my very good friend, Sabine. So, she and I joined our other very good friend, Valerie, for a long lunch followed by a long walk along the port. We had such a wonderful day together. It was actually so warm that we couldn't wear the jackets that we always bring along. We didn't know quite what to do with ourselves. We are so used to wearing at least two layers at all times.

When the three of us were talking and eating, we started to realize just how short our remaining time is together. These two women have helped me in so many ways with learning about and adjusting to the French way of life. And become such wonderful friends in the process. I hate to think of not having them as a nearly daily part of my life..... Leaving France is not going to be easy...
I have volunteered to start a French Club at the elementary school in Batesville when we move back. I have begun to gather my supplies, some games, music, etc to help children to learn simple French. Max is so excited and so ready to help me. He has many, many ideas of what we can do and how we can teach the Batesville children a little bit about France. He cannot wait to begin. He also wants to help because he is terribly afraid that I will teach kids to speak with my terrible French accent instead of his perfect one!
