Today, I had the expertise of a friend help me to learn how to make French macarons. These amazingly airy, brightly colored, and intensely flavored cookies bear no relation whatsoever to their American counterparts with the extra "o" in their name.

Making these delicate confections takes loads of time, energy and dishes but is well worth the final product.

Ghislaine and I had a wonderful time making these together, and laughing at our mistakes. I now feel confident that I can replicate these favorites of mine when we return to the States in August. What a great way to spend a windy and cool day!
Tabitha was very concerned this evening when she discovered that she had accidentally helped me around the house twice without being asked! She is afraid that this will soon become a habit if she doesn't nip it in the bud quickly.

Poor Taba! I wish one of my kids would get that affliction.
