While I was out and about running errands today and gathering items for Quincy and Tabitha's upcoming Confirmation, I was once again reminded of the fact that the French think about presentation with everything. I couldn't buy anything today (except groceries) without being asked if I wanted the package gift wrapped. It's so nice and convenient that I don't even keep a stash of wrapping paper at home anymore! I think this is why the French dress nicely, keep the heads on their fish when they serve it, and decorate their homes so beautifully. However, I also think this is why they remain so stoic with any and all conversations. A perfect example of this was this weekend. Josh and I were being told about the recent contract killing that took place when the daughter-in-law of a very rich man paid a hitman to kill the man's second wife so that they would be sure to inherit his money. This man happened to be the former owner of the hospital bed company that Hill-Rom bought to create Josh's current office (10 years ago). When Josh expressed his shock at this crime, the French man telling the story just shrugged his shoulders, pursed his lips and said, "It was for money."
