Another American
I had coffee with another American woman today! It was quite exciting and we really had a nice visit. Suzanne moved here 6 years ago to marry a French man that she had met in her native Detroit. She now has 2 sons, ages 1 and 3. I met Suzanne through a friend of mine back in the States who was friends with Suzanne when she lived here 18 months ago. Suzanne and I had a great time discussing the various differences between the US and France and how I could find more of the items that I have yet to locate in the grocery stores! Very fun! As great as some of my French friend's speak English, there are some levels of conversation that you just cannot achieve when it is not your native language and there are just some things you cannot understand if it is not your native culture. I then came home to have lunch with Quincy and Tabitha and to have my two hour French lesson to hopefully help me to get back to where I was before our trip home! Quincy made an interesting observation yesterday... he said that if people don't like something in the US, they sue someone.... if people don't like something in France, they go on strike!
