Well, we did it, we have rejoined our life of routine following our trip to the States. This jetlag stuff has been rough, hard enough for adults but really hard when you add four young kids to the mix! We were exhausted the first night since we had missed almost a whole night's sleep while on the plane so we all slept well, but last night, no one could fall asleep at a reasonable time and no one could get up this morning. We all felt like we were dragging all day so hopefully tonight will go better. The kids went off to school without complaint. Most were eager to return to their friends, show off their new haircuts and/or Pokemon cards, and to see what they had missed. Max shed a few tears last night that he missed America and that he didn't want to go to school here but by this morning, he was ready to go. Both Max and Calvin told me after school that they are to the point where their teachers no longer explain everything separately to them in English, that they can now pretty much keep up by only listening to the instructions in French! Quincy and Tabitha are getting to that point as well. After taking the kids to school, I took a nice long run along my favorite seawall trail. It felt great and was nice to get out in the autumn morning. I went much further than I have been walking so I saw quite a few working fisherman, shacks filled with traps for various sea life, and evidence of the tide in motion (my pictures today show various spots along my path). I had to run on all surfaces from sand to stone to cement to hard-packed dirt and even some stairs. Despite my constant fear of twisting my ankle, I did just fine and had my cell phone along - just in case! Calvin and Max came home for lunch and had a great time playing in and raking the many, many leaves that have fallen in our yard already.
