Today was quiet Sunday of just doing things around the house. Josh helped me to put my car "in the garage" so I could vacuum out the huge collection of sand from various beaches that has accumulated on the floor mats. This was quite an undertaking as our street is amazingly narrow, our driveway amazingly small and requiring a very sharp turn to enter, and our garage impossibly tiny! We made it, thanks to the beauty of power folding mirrors!
We also pulled all of our bikes and scooters out today. I often cycle (on cycling paths with friends) but since moving to this house, the kids don't. France is very cycle friendly but we are not city biking people so we have been apprehensive about the kids riding on these narrow, city streets. Sidewalks are very narrow and for pedestrians, not cyclists. So, today we decided to give it a bit of whirl. We went over lots of rules and had the kids do lots of practicing on our street. I then rode with Quincy over to his friend's house and gave him strict instructions on how to manage a safe return. He did just fine so maybe we will get braver as time goes on.
