This morning started out a bit cloudy and cool but quickly became beautiful and mildly warm as the day progressed. I met my running group at the local botanical gardens and we headed out for a run along the gulf. Very nice. After a quick shower, I picked up my friend Sabine and we headed out on a mission. She has graciously agreed to help me to get my kids registered for their various activities in the fall. All extra-curricular activities seem to go from September to June and if you miss the registration, you are out of luck for the whole year! Last fall, we were able to get the kids signed up for basketball, soccer, and horse back riding, but, we were never able to pin down any acting classes (Quincy), piano lessons (Calvin and Tabitha) and drum lessons (Quincy). So, that was my goal today. Sabine ran around town with me while we located everything that the kids want to do, including a baton twirling group if Taba is still interested in that. We now know what our options are, we just have to make some decisions.
The kids keep coming home and telling us about finishing up exams at school, how they are not learning much these days, etc, etc. I haven't completely believed them as I think it often feels like you aren't doing too much the last weeks of school. However, today, Max brought home his end of the year report card and Taba came home with her final scores!! The teachers have completely finished the grading period so they can have everything completed before the official end of school on July 3! Isn't that crazy? How can you hand out report cards with more than 2 1/2 weeks of school left? I also keep hearing different reports of when school actually ends. Sabine called the school today and was told that they haven't decided exactly when the last day will be but officially, it is July 3. Sabine says that this occurs every year.....
Tomorrow is Calvin's 9th birthday. Tabitha stopped at the boulangerie on her way home from school and bought him an eclair as a gift.

Calvin, that eclair looks so--o-oo good! I wish you could save me a bite. Have a great day tomorrow! Love, Grandma Weber
