Not Broken!

Sorry that I didn't get this posted last night.... I just ran out of time....
Quincy came home from school yesterday with two fingers taped together and wrapped in gauze. He said that during gym class, they played basketball and he jammed a finger. He was scoring all of the points (for 3 games) for his team however so he didn't tell anyone until the end of the class. He then went to the school nurse who taped his fingers together. When I stripped away the gauze, the finger was very swollen and pretty discolored so I thought we better get some x-rays taken. Quincy and I then spent the next 3 hours at the urgent clinic for x-rays. It was determined that the finger was not broken, just badly jammed so he was re-taped and sent on his way. I thought it was very interesting that the whole time we were at the clinic dealing with the doctor, the receptionist, the nurse and the x-ray tech, no one spoke English to us. Either our French has improved enough that they didn't feel the need or none of those people actually knew how to speak any English. I like to think it was the former. The clinic set up was very interesting and fairly efficient despite the fact that we were there for hours. They didn't waste time having a doctor see you before doing the x-ray since that is always going to be the first step anyway. They had all the "broken bone" people that came in at the same time head right to x-ray and got that taken care of quickly. Good method!
After quickly dropping Quincy off at home with Josh and the other kids, I headed out for a dinner with my English speaking women's group. These are the women who are married to French men but are themselves either American, British or Irish. We had a very nice dinner and good conversation.
Quincy received his formal grade card in the mail. Not only did he have great comments from his teachers about how well he has done and how much his French has improved but he was also told that his French is now good enough that he can begin to take a 3rd foreign language with the rest of his grade next year! He is signed up for German! Whew!! My brain is tired just thinking about that!
